Caffè Nero to launch payment and loyalty partnership with tech startup
London-based Yoyo Wallet is to partner with Caffè Nero as part of the coffee chain’s new payment and loyalty programme.
The mobile wallet innovator will now become Nero’s office payment and loyalty strategy partner in a move that brings the FinTech firm another step closer to the high street following significant growth across UK universities.
Yoyo combines a mobile wallet with a loyalty card, allowing users to complete transactions cash-free while being offered rewards and loyalty points from participating retailers when using the app.
The company is now supported at over half of the UK’s universities, including Imperial College London and University of Birmingham, while corporate locations including offices at PwC, JP Morgan and Visa are also supporting the technology.
The new partnership with Caffè Nero was announced at this year’s Pitch@Palace event, which YoYo won back in 2014, closing their pitch with a specific request for an introduciton to the cafe brand’s founder, Gerry Ford.
Michael Rolph, Co-Founder & CRO of Yoyo Wallet, commented: “We’re thrilled to be working with Caffè Nero and evolving the role mobile transactions play for them. For us, innovation around mobile transactions should go beyond just payment, creating a better in-store experience for both brands and their customers.”
