Events entrepreneur launches new Chinese dining concept in Leeds
A new Chinese restaurant launched in Leeds city centre after months of hype across social media.
MANS Market, conceived by Candypants founder Ray Chan, opened this week in the West Point area of Leeds city centre and draws upon inspiration from the entrepreneur’s adventures around the globe.
The 120-cover restaurant is fronted with a jetblack doorway and neon signage with decor more akin to a nightclub than a restaurant, leading patrons into a basement bar and restaurant.
Serving up ‘remixed versions’ of Chinese favourites such as crispy aromatic duck rolls, the hospitality concept has adopted a 21st century take on Chinese dining offering brown rice options and a menu devoid of Monosodium glutamate (MSG), a flavour additive often used in Chinese takeaways.
Following the restaurant’s launch, Chan said that his experience in the nightlife and hospitality industry had greatly influenced his new city centre restaurant
He commented: “Having grown up in a Chinese takeaway I’m really excited about reinventing and re-energising Chinese dining in Leeds.
“I’ve been watching the market for years whilst working in the nightlife industry with my events company Candypants and I feel now is the perfect time to bring MANS Market to life.”
