Tottenham Hotspur Stadium update: Iconic statue makes way for West Stand work

Upheaval at Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium development has continued as two iconic landmarks at the club’s current White Hart Lane ground were removed to support further construction traffic at the site.

The club’s ‘Welcome to White Hart Lane’ sign has been removed from the entrance to the West Stand to help widen access for construction traffic to the Northumberland Park construction site.

Meanwhile, the club’s historic copper Cockerel and Ball statue, which has a history dating back to 1909, has been relocated from the West Stand reception and will now be housed near the Tottenham Hotspur clock at the club’s new offices at Lilywhite House.

The club have said that the famous statue will now be preserved alongside the clock at the club’s offices.

Significant upheaval continues at the site as the club’s new 61,000 seater stadium rises out of the ground ahead of its 2018/19 grand opening, with progress on the new North Stand currently under construction revealed in images released in September.

The £400m development is part of wider regeneration in the Tottenham area which will deliver hundreds of new homes along with mixed-use developments and leisure facilities for the local community.
