Pip&Nut shortlisted in Nectar Small Business Awards
London organisation shortlisted for Nectar Business Small Business Awards
Pip Murray, founder of London business, Pip & Nut, has beaten off hundreds of UK small businesses to be shortlisted in the eighth national Nectar Business Small Business Awards.
Pip & Nut is just two weeks away from finding out if it will win the Innovation of the Year category, which is judged by a panel of business experts and led by one of the UK’s leading business women, consumer champion and BBC ‘Dragon’, Sarah Willingham.
The Awards celebrate the achievements of hard working small businesses and business people across the UK. If successful, Pip will win £2,000 cash, 50,000 Nectar points as well as the prestigious title for the company. What’s more Pip will be invited to the Nectar Business Round Table and awards ceremony, taking place in November, where she will meet and receive tailored expert advice from Sarah Willingham and other business professionals who also judged the awards.
Pip & Nut is an all-natural food brand that makes a range of healthy nut butters. The company uses its playful brand and innovative flavours to challenge the perception that a health food is not as satisfying as an unhealthy alternative. Founded only 20 months ago, it has quickly established itself as a key player in the category and has scaled into over 2,500 stores including Sainsbury’s, Holland & Barrett, Ocado and Wholefoods.
Pip commented: “I’m delighted that Pip & Nut has been shortlisted for this award. As a team we work hard to innovate with our products so that they not only stack up nutritionally, but also disrupt the jams and spreads category in order to encourage more people to choose a healthier option. Being shortlisted is great recognition of all these efforts.
“Receiving an invite to the Nectar Business round table event and the opportunity to get first hand advice from the likes of Sarah Willingham for my business would be really valuable in taking us to the next level. We’re still a very young company so if we won, I’d look to use the prize fund and Nectar points to invest back in the team in the form of a fantastic trip away for some team building.”
Pip & Nut will now be judged by a panel of business experts, including Sarah Willingham; Adam Collett, Marketing Director, Independent, at Brakes; Melissa Snover Burton, previous Nectar Business Small Business Awards winner and Managing Director of Katjes Fassin; Richard Carvell, Director Digital & Direct Marketing at Viking and Shannon Diett, VP Marketing at DHL.
Sarah Willingham, entrepreneur and lead judge of the awards comments: “When I joined the Nectar Business Small Business Awards last year I was blown away; not just by the number of entries, but by the sheer quality of the businesses that entered.
“This year has not disappointed; we received even more entrants than last year and the standard of entrants has once again been exceptional. It’s really inspiring reading all of the entries, I really am blown away!
“We have selected Pip and Nut as one of the stand out entries that deserves to be shortlisted in the Innovation of the Year category. Pip and Nut has the potential to join the impressive list of previous winners including NotontheHighStreet.co.uk and Hungryhouse.co.uk, but having seen the other entries I know the competition will be fierce!”
The other categories include Small Business of the Year, Home Grown Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Tradesperson of the Year and Contribution to Community Award and two new categories; Apprentice of the Year and Best Use of Technology.
