Chargifi, powering wireless charging worldwide
Wireless charging service Chargifi is continuing to realise its ambitious expansion plans, working across industry sectors and opening up new relationships with organisations such as Pret A Manger, npower, The Clubhouse and the University of Greenwich.
New research commissioned from OnePoll by Chargifi shows that ‘Battery Anxiety’ is reaching epidemic levels with over half of Brits (52%) revealing they suffer from at least one attack in a typical week and almost a quarter (22%) admitting they have between three and ten episodes a week.
This explains demand for the service which gives venues such as coffee shops, bars, hotels and airports the ability to offer customers a wireless charging service while gaining valuable insight into their customer’s behaviour. It allows people to charge their phones and tablets for free on Chargifi spots installed in an increasing number of locations around the world.
The company was founded in 2013 after its founder, 27 year old Dan Bladen went travelling for six months and found many of the places he visited weren’t set up to let him charge his devices easily or conveniently.
Headquartered in London and with a major presence in the US, the company is well placed to take advantage of the explosive growth in the market for wireless power, estimated to grow to a $17.9 Billion market by 2024, (IHS Markit Figures from The Wireless Power Summit 2016).
Partners across nine markets including Hong Kong, Singapore, Russia and most recently Switzerland, where tech entrepreneur Michael Rava signed a licensing deal just last month, are powering further international expansion for the business.
To date, Chargifi has raised $3.4m from the investors such as Intel Capital, Techstars, R/GA Ventures and Brett Akker (founder of Zipcar and LOVESPACE).
Bladen is supported by an experienced board including co-founder and non-executive director Charlie Cannell (Inflexion, AMV BBDO, BT) and COO Peter Wallace who has been chief financial officer for some of the world’s most high-profile companies including Publicis Groupe Media, Aegis Media UK, and mobile advertising company, AD Maxim.
