Doncaster pie maker secures new contract with Channel Islands Co-operative Society
Doncaster-based family bakery, The Topping Pie Company, has secured a new contract with The Channel Islands Co-operative Society.
The Society has partnered with local food distributor Cimandis to create a supply chain of products from the UK, including Toppings.
Handcrafted speciality pork pies and Dinky Topped pork pies produced at Toppings Doncaster bakery have launched in the new look delicatessen at the refurnished Grand Marchẽ St Helier store in Jersey.
The products will then be rolled out to a further three outlets - a second in Jersey and two in Guernsey - within the next three months.
A range of Toppings products has also been listed in a further 20 outlets on the islands in the retail, hospitality, pub, café, sports, leisure and airport sectors.
The Channel Islands Co-operative Society is a community retailer which is owned by members in Jersey and Guernsey and offers the largest range of products sourced from local producers in the islands.
More than 300 lines, which will change depending on the seasons, will be introduced on the relaunched delicatessens which are centred on foods of the world to showcase local and international artisan products.
Roger Topping, managing director of The Topping Pie Company, said: “We are delighted to work with local food distributor Cimandis to launch the Toppings brand into the Channel Islands.
“The Channel Islands Co-operative Society listing is a significant contract for us and we are proud to be among a selection of handpicked suppliers by the retailer which values quality and great taste on its deli counters.”
Dave Chalk, managing director of Cimandis, added: “We are a business which is committed to growing local and national brands across the Channel Islands and we have worked with Roger and Matt to launch Toppings Pies into the Islands.
“The Channel Islands Co-Operative Society have been incredibly supportive of Toppings Pies alongside a number of other brands we launched in recent months.”
Kenny Mc Donald, head of retail operations for The Channel Islands Co-operative Society, also commented: “Each one of the suppliers has been handpicked for the quality of their products. Our customers have a real passion for local and artisan products and we were confident that the new range, which includes Toppings pies, would be well received.
“The feedback we have had from our customers has been fantastic. They’ve enjoyed having the chance to sample products from around the world and because new products will be added, there will always be something different on offer.”
