Recruitment startup looking to capitalise on Google and Apple tech recruitment boom

A European recruitment startup is expanding its services into London just in time for a tech recruitment boom after some of the world’s biggest technological companies committed themselves to the city.

France’s talent.io has launched its UK operations in London following on from its launch in 2015 and expansion into the German market this year.

John Hazelton, who is Country Manager for the UK at the startup, says that the firm is attempting to disrupt the recruitment market with its candidate-focused approach to getting new recruits in front of innovative tech firms.

It works by handpicking the best sign ups, which is measured on skills and availability, on its platform every week and then allows companies to interact with the prospective candidates during a two-week session.

Firms and candidates can then swap jobs descriptions, salary expectations and arrange interviews through talent.io’s platform, with the startup’s staff on hand to provide advice and guidance throughout the process.

Explaining the thinking behind the platform, Hazelton explained: “Our platform is designed to take the pain out of hiring people. No more middlemen, no more time wasting and no more irrelevant candidates.

“We are human-centric too; we are not a sales team focused on getting our numbers up and we don’t use algorithms to select candidates. talent.io is made up of engineering industry experts who put the customer service back into recruitment.

“We bring quality job offers to quality developers because we truly understand their needs and wants. Traditional recruitment agencies are very focused on client care and focus very little on the candidates. This model is failing the IT industry, and we are seeing a big shift towards our model.”

The startup has already signed up TransferWise and notonthehighstreet.com to assist with developer recruitment, and is hoping to sign up over 1,000 companies in the next month, fuelled by the capital’s tech recruitment boom.

With Google, Apple and Facebook all set to expand their UK workforces in London in the next couple of years, and London’s vibrant startup scene continuing to spit out new tech companies at a rapid click, talent.io founder Jonathan Azoulay believes the capital will remain Europe’s ‘number one tech ecosystem’ for the forseeable future.

He said: “As more companies follow suit, and new startups launch, we will see a huge increase in demand for developers. Our platform brings them all together in one place and makes recruiting easy.

“It also enables the mobility of technical teams between the UK, France and Germany as, for some organisations, hiring on home soil is no longer enough.

“talent.io is a direct and scalable service for selective recruitment, and we believe it will be a game changer in the industry.”
