16-storey tower complex approved for Liverpool’s iconic skyline
A private rented sector (PRS) development on Liverpool’s historic waterfront has been given the greenlight.
Liverpool City Council has today (December 13) approved a 16-storey residential project that will create 382 apartments with views across the Pierhead, Albert Dock and the rest of the city to the rear.
The scheme, to be delivered by a joint venture between real estate firms Patten Properties and Panacea Property Development, will also comprise a private gym, cinema and gardens, in addition to ground-floor commercial space.
Further, the development will include a semi-public landscaped area on Strand Street.
To ensure the project makes a positive and integrated contribution to the city’s iconic skyline, the developers said the scheme is designed sensitively around a number of elements and materials from surrounding buildings, including Mann Island, One Park West and the Three Graces.
Patten Properties and Panacea Property Development MD Neil Patten said of the decision: “We’ve worked very closely with the council to ensure that our planning approach for this important scheme was in line with their own aspirations for the site and the wider area.
“We recognise that the scheme will play a significant role in the regeneration of Liverpool’s historic waterfront and the local economy.”
He added: “We can now look forward to working hard to deliver this exciting PRS development for the city.”
Manchester-based Zerum served as planning consultant with support from North West built environment consultancy Curtins.
The scheme is designed by architects Leach Rhodes Walker.
