Harworth Group plots expansion of Bolton’s Logistics North development
Regeneration firm Harworth Group plc has revealed plans to speculatively develop new commercial space at the Logistics North scheme in Bolton.
Located near the entrance of the development, adjacent to Junction 4 of the M61, the project will comprise 26,000 sq ft across two units geared towards occupiers with manufacturing or logistics operations.
In addition to the speculative commercial space, Harworth also intends to build a 1,800 sq ft unit for coffee chain Costa, having agreed on a 15-year lease with the company. Work on the store is expected to reach practical completion in Autumn 2017.
Harworth has further strengthened Logistics North’s dining offer after selling land to pub operator Greene King for the construction of a new Farmhouse Inn early next year.
Elsewhere, supermarket Aldi has commenced work on a new 19,500 sq ft superstore on the development to serve as its national training site.
The scheme, which will create as many as 40 jobs, follows the completion of Aldi’s 650,000 sq. ft North West Distribution HQ at Logistics North earlier this year.
Chris Davidson, Harworth Group’s associate director of major projects, said: “Now that Logistics North has established itself as a leading commercial development in the North West, one of our main aims is now providing complementary uses to the development already on-site.
“We look forward to welcoming Costa and Greene King onto the site to join our other occupiers whilst we’re also delighted that Aldi are further investing in Logistics North.”
Investment management giant JLL is a joint letting agent on the scheme.
JLL director Dan Burn commented: “Whilst the focus to date has been on large scale development, we have received numerous enquiries for smaller units from regionally based occupiers keen to relocate to Logistics North and we are delighted that Harworth have now decided to react to this demand by speculatively constructing two new units.”
