North West festive focus: Andy Craig, Mason Lord

As the North West’s business leaders tie the bow on a frenetic year and prepare for a hard-earned festive break, Bdaily North West has asked movers and shakers in the region to give their verdict on 2016 and tell us their hopes and fears for the new year ahead.

Up today is Andy Craig, director of Knutsford-based property development company Mason Lord, who gives us his views on the last 12 months and reveals what goodies he’s hoping to find under his tree.

What are you most proud of achieving in 2016?

We have finished a couple of fantastic superhomes this year – from a modern stately home to a super contemporary dwelling.

Which was your busiest month, and why?

September was very busy with trying to complete a few projects after the summer holidays. The summer sun was soon forgotten!

What are your thoughts on Brexit so far?

Bit tired of it all to be honest. Let’s just crack on with the exit and I am sure that after a couple of years of uncertainty the Great British economy will bounce back stronger than ever.

What are you most looking forward to in 2017?

We have a couple of amazing superhomes on our books. Both of which are showstoppers that will cement our position as the North’s premier builders of superhomes.

What will be your biggest obstacle next year?

We will continue to grow the works that we deliver throughout other sectors. This can be anything from commercial, industrial, retail, sports, leisure, heritage and education.

What’s the outlook like for your sector over the next 12 months?

Our projects in the luxury housing market are already looking rosy, but we are always on the lookout for more projects and clients looking to build, extend and refurbish.

Tell me about your staff Christmas night-out.

Nothing too crazy really. A lovely meal at Gusto followed by a few drinks around Knutsford. A few drinks may possibly be an understatement!

What’s the best date in December to put decorations up? How early is too early?

The decorations go up when the wife says so, no questions asked. Although I have seen decorations go up in November, which should be a criminal offence!

What are you hoping to get from Father Christmas? What’s your Tracy Island/Buzz Lightyear this year?

A bit cliché but I just love watching my children opening their presents now. Then I look forward to stuffing my face and having a few drinks with family and friends.
