Carillion JV secures £160m Dubai World Trade Centre contract

The Middle Eastern joint-venture between Al Futtaim and Carillion has been awarded a major construction contract for a multi-million pound office development in the heart of Dubai’s Central Business District.

Dubai World Trade Centre’s ONE CENTRAL scheme, which is located between the emirate’s International Convention and Exhibition Centre and Emirates Towers, is a new mixed-use scheme spread over half a million sq ft of the city.

Currently under construction, All Futtaim Carillion (AFC) has been awarded the £160m contract to deliver Phase 1A6 of the project, consisting of a pair of office buildings comprising a combined 182,500 sq m of Grade A office space.

The towers, which total 12 and eight storeys, are scheduled for completion at the end of 2018 and complement the JV’s existing work at the site.

AFC has already delivered the earlier Phase 1A2 of the project, which is currently being leased, and is in the process of developing Phase 1A5, bringing total contracts on the ONE CENTRAL development to £400m.

Following this latest contract win, Carillion Chief Executive, Richard Howson, said: “We are delighted to have been selected for Phase 1A6, the third phase of the ONE CENTRAL development, where we continue to see good opportunities coming to market for which our capabilities and reputation for delivering to high standards of quality, safety and reliability are important to customers.

“We look forward to continuing our close relationship with Dubai World Trade Centre to deliver this important development.”
