Tyneside staffing agency sponsors Women in IT Awards

A leading Tyneside recruitment agency is to sponsor the largest technology diversity event in the world.

Newcastle-based Frank Recruitment Group will sponsor the landmark Women in IT Awards on 25 January 2017 in London, UK.

Organised by Information Age, the award show will bring together over 800 technology tech leaders to recognise the outstanding innovation achievements by women in the IT industry with the aim of confronting gender imbalance in the workplace and promoting a diverse workforce.

Information Age has organised the event with incredible success since launching in 2015. This year’s sponsors include Amazon Web Services, Salesforce and many more.

Influential women in tech leaders have been shortlisted to win awards in 16 categories to highlight the important value women add to the technology field. The awards categories range from Advocate of the Year, Business Leader of the Year, CIO of the Year, Digital Leader of the Year, Innovator of the Year and Woman of the Year, to name a few.

Danielle Ramsbottom, Head of Account Management at Frank Recruitment Group, said: “As a recruitment firm we have seen first-hand the struggles our clients have to recruit a diverse workforce.

“We have also seen some of the challenges people face in the workplace, where they can feel as though they are one of those in a minority group of people, or are trying to encourage diversity but feel alone in their attempt to do so.

“Frank Recruitment Group is determined to help raise awareness and ensure we’re helping our candidates and clients, wherever possible, to encourage diversity in the workplace.

“We are proud to sponsor the Women in IT Awards alongside such an impressive group of women in technology, the organiser’s Information Age and the other companies sponsoring this important event.”

The awards will be hosted by Maggie Philbin, TeenTech CEO and TV presenter, Maggie was just appointed OBE in the New Year Honours list for her work to involve young people in STEM and the creative industries.

The awards ceremony is also accompanied by a sister event, Tomorrow’s Tech Leaders Today, a daytime tech career fair that brings together hundreds of the UK’s female students who have the opportunity to network with major IT employers including BT.
