Business leaders assemble to shape 'a connected growth vision' for Leeds City Region

More than 300 figures from across the Leeds and wider region’s private, public and third sectors came together to share their vision on how the Leeds City Region’s economy can reach it’s full potential.

Led by business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK LLP, #VibrantLeeds saw senior representatives from a wide range of organisations in sectors including education, creative digital technology, arts and culture, community and charity, generate a series of ideas to support a long-term action plan.

The #VibrantLeeds event, held at New Dock Hall on Tuesday, January 31st, saw attendees undertake an ‘appreciative inquiry’ methodology.

This engages stakeholders in self determined change, encouraging attendees to focus on the positive things that are taking place, collaborate to build on this and debate on a future for Leeds where all sectors can connect to create growth.

The event generated a series of ideas from each of the 40 tables. These ideas will be taken forward for further discussion and development.

Among some of the ideas were Leeds launching an Olympic bid; the construction of a ‘Yorkshire Pyramid’, and the creation of a Leeds business charter.

During feedback sessions to the audience, attendees also highlighted Leeds’ leadership and capitalising on the talents of the city region’s younger generation as areas of positive potential.
