JF Finnegan, the Sheffield-based contractor, has been appointed by Tuffnells Parcels Express Limited to build a new £3.3m facility at Sheffield Business Park.
The contract has now commenced work on the site at at Zone 6 of business park, with completion scheduled in August 2017.
Sheffield Business Park is one of Yorkshire’s largest business parks with occupiers such as Fujitsu Siemens, HSBC, South Yorkshire Police and Stanley UK, with in excess of 900,000 sq ft of future development proposed.

The joint venture team of JF Finnegan and Sheffield Business Park, Broomco Limited, sold the land at Zone 6 within Sheffield Business Park in separate land sales to Tuffnells Parcels Express and JCT 600 in 2015.
Tuffnells Parcels Express, which is headquartered in close proximity to the site, bought 3.55 acres to develop the new depot. JF Finnegan’s appointment by Tuffnells Parcels Express will include the design and construction of the new 19,900 sq ft depot.
Dawa Singh, head of pre-construction at JF Finnegan, said: “Having originally sold the land to Tuffnells, we are pleased to be working with the specialists in next day business to business UK delivery on the new warehouse after a long value engineering process.
“We are returning to Sheffield Business Park, after working as developer contractors over the years. The new facility will be an excellent addition to this immensely successful business park.”
Chris Ward, managing director of Tuffnells, added: “At Tuffnells Parcels Express we are investing heavily in our health and safety, training and services, but as this move shows, also in our people.
“Many Tuffnell’s employees in the Sheffield depot have been with us for decades and this state of the art new working environment is a great way to boost motivation and show our appreciation for years of hard work.
“As well as a new modern look, the increased space for vehicles means we can not only improve customer service levels, but also open up new local job opportunities. We believe this will be a brilliant facility and we are more than happy to be working with the experts in the area – JF Finnegans.”
