York developer's £8m hotel scheme to create 60 new jobs in Stratford-upon-Avon
S Harrison, the York-based development company, and its partner the Stratford Town Trust have started work on an £8m hotel scheme.
The project will see two Grade-II listed Georgian townhouses in Stratford-upon-Avon transformed into a luxurious Hotel du Vin.
S Harrison has appointed The Lindum Group to carry out the work on the Rother Street buildings and the development is set to complete later this year.
The new hotel will offer 48 bedrooms along with the brand’s French-inspired Bistro, as well as a meetings space, private dining rooms and a separate banqueting room.
The hotel development will create at least 60 new jobs in the area.
David Clancy, development director from S Harrison, said: “After working in partnership with Stratford Town Trust, Hotel du Vin and council officers for more than three years, it’s really rewarding to see work firmly underway on this development.
“The hotel will meet an exceptional standard and will bring two stunning buildings back to life, with a new and sustainable use, as well as maintaining their original character.”
Paul Roberts, CEO, Malmaison Hotel du Vin, commented: “Stratford has a rich history and it’s important to us that this is reflected in the property - we always ensure that our conversions retain their original character.
“We’re committed to delivering exceptional customer experience in stunning surroundings, and the centre of the historic and beautiful Stratford-upon-Avon is the perfect setting for just that.”
