Deloitte Real Estate nurtures collaboration with Manchester tech startups

Deloitte Real Estate’s Manchester team is partnering up with the city’s tech startups to generate innovation through collaboration.

Industry experts gathered in the Northern Quarter this week to address the challenges business face in creating innovative workplaces.

The first in a series of events seeking to explore how property developers and tech businesses can work together, Deloitte Real Estate was joined by Manchester-based internet provider Telcom in discussing how firms can take advantage of new technologies.

Led by Telcom co-founder Doug Ward, chief relationship officer Danny Smith and Deloitte Real Estate director and development surveyor Catherine Wignall, the session explored how real estate businesses can offer better spaces for tech startups in Manchester, and how both the sectors can collaborate to drive productivity through connectivity.

Catherine Wignall said: “Manchester’s technology sector is a source of real inspiration as we seek to become more innovative and expansive in how we operate.

“We hope this event will be the first of many, helping forge partnerships between ourselves and local, agile start-ups.”

She continued: “With the agility and new ideas brought to the table by these businesses and the depth of resource on offer at companies such as ours, there is a great deal we can offer to each other.

“This collaboration can only be a positive step for Manchester, which is quickly emerging as a leading source of innovation across both the technology and real estate sectors.”

Doug Ward commented: “As technology continues to advance at pace, the economic and social impact of modernising the UK’s internet infrastructure, which currently sees itself behind the likes Bulgaria and Romania, must take place in a relatively expedient manner.

“This is critical in order to embrace the economic and social benefits that cities and nations across the world are recognising and heavily investing in.”

He added: “Locally, collaboration across different sectors is not only a fantastic opportunity to accelerate Manchester’s growth as a leading European digital business hub, but also we believe this collaboration will become more and more critical towards achieving our shared belief in the city’s globally prosperous future.”
