North West city named Europe’s third most influential
Manchester is the third most influential city in Europe, according to new data.
In its latest Cities of Influence report, commercial real estate company Colliers International ranked Manchester in third place when it comes to talent, location and costs.
According to the research, the city scored highly for its strong “latent talent” and “future skills pool”, as well as its “high affordability and low cost”.
The findings, Colliers said, is “good news for the Northern Powerhouse policymakers”.
London nabbed the number one spot in the list, with Paris coming in second.
Stockholm, Dublin and Munich came in fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively.
Aside from London, Manchester was the only other English city to make the top 20.
The head of Colliers International’s Manchester office, director Andrew McFarlane, said of the report: “Manchester has worked hard to build its reputation as an international city.
“Over the past 20-plus years it has steadily grown and developed into the global player that it is today and that momentum is still building as Manchester cements its place at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse.”
He continued: “What is encouraging about this report is that what has been clear to many in Manchester for several years is increasingly being recognised by a global audience. Manchester’s best days lie ahead.”
