Gü Puds set pulses racing on Valentine’s Day…
The UK’s leading premium chilled dessert brand anticipated a major surge this Valentine’s Day, as amorous Britons opted for a special night in on the most romantic night of the year.
Luxury dessert brand Gü Puds is predicting a 90% spike in sales in February, something it attributes to consumers choosing to celebrate Valentine’s Day at home and wanting an indulgent treat.[1]
This year, Gü is expecting particular success for its newest pud: Strawberry and Raspberry Shortbread Cheesecake. Since launching in September 2016, sales of the indulgent cheesecake have risen by 75% over the last three months, and it is already one of Gü’s top five best-selling puds.[2]
Sarah Baldwin, Managing Director of Gü Puds says: “We’re used to sales of our other puds surging around Valentine’s Day, but we think our Strawberry and Raspberry Shortbread Cheesecake is going to go down a real treat this year. In fact, Valentine’s Day is just a microcosm of a wider trend: the UK is increasingly seeking out restaurant-quality desserts that can be enjoyed at home.”
Gü Puds, part of Noble Foods Group, fast became a Great British favourite since launching in 2003. Now successfully selling its British-made puds in the notoriously foodie markets of France and Germany, Gü’s brand value is £63million.[3]
Gü is currently enjoying a period of prolonged growth which it is aiming to sustain through the launch of an ambitious growth plan centred on innovation. Central to this will be the opening of a new facility in Bishop’s Stortford later this year which will increase production and distribution, as well as allowing even greater opportunities for developing new and exciting products.
Baldwin concludes: “As the UK market leader, we’re on mission to transform each and every sweet moment into an explosion of pleasure, and innovation is absolutely key to that. We have an ambitious growth plan and some exciting new products on the horizon – the proof will be in the pudding!”
