Humber LEP set to recruit local business leaders to take region to 'the next level'
The Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is on the lookout for additional private sector members to join its Board.
The LEP, a Government-backed partnership between business, local authorities and education, aims to help grow the Humber economy.
The LEP’s work includes securing investment in infrastructure projects (such as last month’s announcement of a further £27.9m Growth Deal funding), encouraging the upskilling of the region’s workforce and offering support for business growth.
As well as setting the direction of the LEP, the Board provides strategic leadership for the Humber economy. It also oversees groups addressing certain issues, such as skills and infrastructure, some of which are also seeking new members.
The LEP is seeking business leaders who have a significant track record of organisation leadership and management in private sector businesses. Each Board member will take on specific portfolios for a particular area of the LEP’s work, which may include chairing or being a member of a sub group.
Lord Haskins, Chair of the Humber LEP, said: “Being involved in the LEP is a unique opportunity to help set the region’s direction and shape the environment that businesses operate in.
“It is a public-private collaboration to make the area a better place, and the insight and ideas that businesspeople bring to the table are essential for making that work.
“Ours is a vibrant and interesting LEP with a good track record and relationship with Government, which is paying dividends for our area.
“This is an opportunity to help us take that on to the next level. We want representation from all areas of the local economy so we encourage business people who are passionate about the area and willing to help it succeed to put themselves forward.”
