Liverpool-headquartered funder Bibby Financial Services opens flagship Wales office

Independent funder Bibby Financial Services (BFS) is taking steps to boost its support for UK SMEs with the launch of a new office in Cardiff.

To bolster plans to grow its Welsh client base, the Liverpool-headquartered firm set up shop at One Caspian Point.

Mike Freebury, who has worked with BFS since 2011, is now head of sales for the new Cardiff team.

He said of his appointment: “We are all very excited about BFS’s strengthened presence in Wales.

“We have always operated in the country, but having a dedicated office in Cardiff will extend our reach to both the local advisor base and the businesses we support, giving them confidence that we can support them locally.”

The Caspian Point office will work to support businesses with invoice finance, leasing, trade and export finance, specialist finance services for the recruitment and construction sectors, and other funding solutions.

BFS commercial director Edward Winterton commented: “Many Welsh businesses are telling us that they’re looking to invest in staff recruitment and training, despite wider concerns surrounding rising costs and Brexit.

“With our new team in place, we want to react quickly to offer funding support, enabling them to grow.”

He continued: “Following Mike’s appointment and the opening of our new office, I have every confidence that we will be able to significantly boost our support for SMEs in Wales.”
