Sheffield Hallam University announced as latest Northern Powerhouse partner

Sheffield Hallam University has been named a Northern Powerhouse partner, underlining its commitment to supporting economic growth in the north.

Sheffield Hallam joins a group of northern organisations committed to collaborating with the government to help the North achieve its full economic potential, and attract new jobs and investment to the region.

With over 31,500 students, Sheffield Hallam is one of the largest universities in the UK.

Studies have shown that the University adds an annual £424m to the regional economy.

The university works with hundreds of businesses across the Northern Powerhouse, helping to create jobs and attract new investment through innovation, research and skilled graduates.

Northern Powerhouse Minister Andrew Percy MP, said: “The Northern Powerhouse is home to some of the world’s top universities, more than one million businesses and an economy worth £316bn in 2015 – similar to the whole of Belgium.

“We’re determined to build on this strength so I’m delighted that Sheffield Hallam University is demonstrating its commitment to help attract jobs and boost growth in the North.”
