Bondgate opens fourth electric wholesale branch with Durham move
Bondgate Electrical Distribution has opened a fourth branch in the region, a move which the electrical wholesales believes will boost its proposition by £1.5m per year.
Opening a new site in Durham, the family-run firm has moved into premises on the Abbey Road Industrial Estate.
Neil Turnball, the new branch manager at the site, commented: “I’ve worked in the area for more than 30 years in this industry and I personally want to take the branch from standing start to £150,000 a month.”
Bondgate, which employs 17 members of staff across its four branches, supplies to customers of all sizes, from contractors working on housing developments to sole-trading electricians, across the entire North-East.
Mr Turnball will work alongside Graham Crutwell, 56, from South Shields, who joined Bondgate from a competitor in the area.
“The Durham branch covers a large area and there is a lot of competition, but that means there are also a lot of opportunities. We want to build up a great customer base here,” said Mr Crutwell.
MD Richard Stanleyadded: “Expanding into Durham was a natural move for Bondgate as it allows us to better serve existing customers in that area and look to work with new customers. It strengthens the branch network coverage and is the next step in our growth plans over the coming 18 months.
“Our customers don’t just have our four regional trade counters to choose from, but because of our affiliation with buying group AWEBB and its national distribution network ElectraCentre they can buy through us from over 130 trade counters in the country.”
