Leeds architects help secure go-ahead for 82 new homes scheme in Stockton

Planning permission for 82 new homes in Stockton has been secured with help from Leeds-based architectural firm, Brewster Bye.

The new housing development is being delivered by Muse, the mixed use development and regeneration arm of Morgan Sindall.

The development is the third phase of Northshore Homezone, which forms the residential element of the regeneration scheme which is transforming Stockton’s riverside. Work on the two, three and four bedroom homes is due to start this spring.

Nathan Wilkinson, Brewster Bye’s director, said: “To be involved with numerous elements of the Northshore project is very exciting for us. The first two phases of the scheme included 126 homes which are all part of the bigger 56-acre development.

“There will also be 1 million square feet of office, leisure and retail space delivered, alongside the high quality housing, which is within walking distance of the town centre.

“The light and well-proportioned houses of this third phase will see an evolution to the aesthetic of previous phases, with the designs complementing both the existing houses and the nearby Thirteen office building, by providing a contemporary interpretation of traditional riverside buildings.”

Brewster Bye has been working on a number of projects for Muse since 2010 and has designed almost 300 homes during that time.

Nathan added: “Our plans for two phases of homes at The Gables in Doncaster – which is part of the larger master plan within Doncaster’s Civic and Cultural Quarters – were well received, and work on the second phase of 43 homes started last summer. Contractor Lovells and is set to complete this phase by spring 2018.

“A further 51, two, three and four bedroom houses in the Lakeside area of Doncaster, which is known as The Residence, have recently completed and plans have also recently been approved for a further 147, one, two, three, four and five bedroom homes at the Lakeside 13/14 site which is fantastic news for homebuyers in the area.”

Dan Needham, Muse’s development director, commented: “The homes we are delivering in Doncaster and Stockton really break the mould when it comes to stylish and well-thought through design.

“Brewster Bye has provided us with fresh workable designs that have proved very popular with homebuyers. The company beat competition from a host of other regional and London-based architects to work with us, and we are very pleased with the results.”
