Jonathan Baines appointed as Chairman of Ideal Flatmate

Senior business advisor Jonathan Baines joins board of start-up Ideal Flatmate to spearhead strategic national growth

6 April 2017: Senior business advisor Jonathan Baines has today been announced as the Chairman of Ideal Flatmate, the UK’s first compatibility based flatmate site.

Baines brings to the board a wealth of financial and marketing experience, through his previous roles at Whitehead Mann Partnership and Korn Ferry and current advisory positions at Tulchan Communications, the Citigroup and confectionary brand Candy Kittens.

As Chairman of Ideal Flatmate, Baines will be focussed on strategic business growth and will oversee marketing and the start-up’s next round of funding. Areas of development under Baines’ guidance will include growing the user base, continued development of the product and the monetisation of the site, due to take effect in autumn this year.

“Ideal Flatmate is the first of its kind- no other flatmate or house sharing platform features a compatibility focussed algorithm which has the potential to have a positive social impact on people’s lives,” said Baines.

“With this in mind, I am confident that the business will succeed on a national level and my focus will be ensuring this process is as smooth as possible.”

The Ideal Flatmate platform, designed by Cambridge professors, is based on an algorithm similar to that of dating websites and prioritises tenant compatibility in an effort to facilitate long term relationships for tenants and landlords alike.

Founders of Ideal Flatmate Tom Gatzen and Rob Imonikhe came up with the idea for the platform following years of becoming increasingly frustrated with the revolving door of flatmates they had found through listing websites.
