Stats that Proved Rapid Growth In Online Shopping
There is no doubt how quickly things are changing day by day. There was a time when we don’t know anything about online shopping and few years back we were not ready to trust those online shopping sites completely. But, now it’s like everything has changed. Many analytics firms are doing annual surveys on online shopping. According to the results, it was found that consumers are buying more things and items online as compared to stores.
This is an actual fact which is calculated according to an annual survey on online shopping of more than 5,000 online shoppers by United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS). From year 2014, the percentage of shoppers are increasing and now last year it reached 51 percent. Before that it was 48 percent in 2015 and 47% in 2014. On top of that in an annual survey by analytics firm comScore (SCOR, +0.36%) and UPS (UPS, -0.08%) found that consumers are now purchasing more items online than in retail and departmental stores. However, many retail stores are suffering from this loss in this new cybershopping era.
So, the question is, “Why people are doing more online shopping?”
Well, what I think there are many reasons for customers to do online shopping instead of going to the store and browse for required items. We all know that doing online shopping is comfortable and many online retailers provides same high quality items at better value. But, that’s not it. In fact, the real reason behind this is the frequent discount offers on various occasions which are quite irresistible for customers. If we take about an entire year then there are plenty of shopping days, festivals, weeks, and e-commerce occasions such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Early Christmas Shopping, and many festivals according to different customs and traditions in many countries where these online retailers sell products at very low prices. These days and weeks are considered as the biggest shopping days of the year which draw huge crowds.
One of the biggest e-commerce game changer’s is Amazon who not compete big retailers like Walmart, Target, and Kohl’s but beat them on several occasions. If you take a look at the analysis reports of Black Friday 2016 Sales stats and Cyber Monday Shopping Sales report then you will find that Amazon, Macy’s, Target and Walmart were doing great in this shopping week of the year.
Even Steve Osburn said that “Over time, people are getting more and more comfortable shopping online” which hit retailers hard.
The online shopping is accelerating and growing rapidly. Even the smartphone users who do shopping through their device are increasing every year.
It’s like people are making smart choices and become very decisive in purchasing required products. In fact, I think the same way. If you can get a quality genuine product at better value without stepping outside in a very short time then you are making smart choices. And it is actually great that consumers are more aware of market and products.
Never-the-less, you should do what you think is right. After all, we all are consumer and we have right to do make choices for our benefits.
I hope, this article will be insightful for you to understand the fast growing online shopping in this new cyber era.
