Vinco secures planning permission for 381-bed tower scheme in North Liverpool

A multi-million pound apartment development in North Liverpool has received the greenlight from the city council.

The 381-bed scheme is being brought forward by local property firm Vinco Group, on the corner of Bevington Bush and Gardeners Row in the Pumpfields area of the city.

Comprising three towers ranging from nine to 19 storeys set around a communal courtyard, the project is designed by Liverpool architects Falconer Chester Hall (FCH).

The development will be called The Tannery, in reference to a tannery that occupied on the site from the 1880s until the 1950s.

Vinco Group said FCH’s design reflects the site’s heritage, with folded aluminium panels representing the hanging leathers.

The application was submitted in partnership with Niveda Group, a London-based real estate and finance business, and is an amendment to a previous application for shorter towers and more studio apartments.

The majority of The Tannery’s units will now be one- and two-bed units.

Planning permission was granted subject to the signing of a Section 106 agreement.

Glyn Thomas, managing director of Vinco Group, said: “The northern edge of the city still has great potential to deliver major regeneration and developments like this will give a sense of arrival for people coming into the city.

“The scheme now also helps to plug a gap for bigger, more family-orientated developments that will help to keep the societal balance in the city centre.”

Planning consultancy Zerum handled the application.
