JD Sports Group’s GetTheLabel business to expand in China

Online designer discount retailer GetTheLabel is set to expand its footprint in China with a new website.

The firm, part of Rochdale-headquartered JD Sports Group, has appointed ecommerce services provider Azoya to help it break into the Asian market.

As part of the agreement, Azoya will equip GetTheLabel with a fully managed platform for desktop and mobile, giving the company a direct presence in China.

Further, it will provide logistics support and various other operational services.

Liz McNamara, GetTheLabel’s marketing director, explained: “The Chinese version of GetTheLabel’s site offers customers a convenient platform to purchase and place orders for shipment from the UK, and includes our entire range.”

The company said its new site has been customised to suit Chinese consumers’ shopping behaviour and tastes to improve conversion rates and cut unnecessary returns.

Azoya co-founder Don Zhao commented: “Chinese consumers are well-known for their love of Western products and recently we’ve seen increasing demand for discounted brands as shoppers become more discerning and look for value as well as quality.

“China’s middle class – over 225m people – is becoming more interested in health and fitness and developing a taste for activewear as everyday clothing too.”

He added: “As GetTheLabel’s mix of branded sports and fashion wear taps into this trend, it will be well-positioned to establish itself in China.”

GetTheLabel was established in 2009.
