Astley-based Perfect Sense Energy lands £20k contract with Growth Hub support

An energy cost reduction company near Wigan has secured a five-figure contract after receiving Business Growth Hub support.

In a bid to promote its expertise and explore new ways to recruit and develop skilled staff, Astley-based Perfect Sense Energy got in touch with the Hub and was invited to join its Low Carbon Network, which gives firms in the sustainability and environmental sectors access to tender opportunities linked to the low carbon economy.

After joining the network, Perfect Sense won a £20k contract with a local plastics manufacturer for the installation of a bespoke LED lighting system.

The company has also expanded its workforce by hiring a digital marketing apprentice.

Perfect Sense’s work involves helping businesses reduce electricity costs and dependence on the National Grid with LED lighting, far infrared heating, voltage optimisation and onsite renewable energy sources such as rooftop solar panels.

Perfect Sense MD Gary Brandwood said: “The decision to take on an apprentice was preferred over the graduate or traditional recruitment route as we wanted to nurture young talent and up-skill them to meet the individual requirements of Perfect Sense Energy and its growth plan.

“We are also working with Hub partners, The Skills Company and ethical recruitment agency Aspire, to meet further recruitment needs. As we grow, so do our staffing needs, and the Hub has shown us a cost-effective and socially responsible way of recruiting talented people.”

Business Growth Hub is part of the Manchester Growth Company.

Daniel O’Connell, Business Growth Hub low carbon sector advisor, commented: “Perfect Sense is an exceptional company with products and ideas that can help businesses to buy better, use less and generate their own energy.

“They were quick to realise that they needed support managing their growth and have now put in place plans to make sure they can access a pipeline of talented people.”

He continued: “What’s really encouraging is that their success also makes a positive impact within the local community.”

“The fact Perfect Sense has managed to secure a large contract via our Low Carbon Network is also a great example of how the Hub can help ambitious companies win new business and drive growth.”
