Liverpool FC submit plans for £50m Kirkby training facility

Liverpool FC have submitted a planning application to Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council for the proposed £50m redevelopment of their Kirkby Academy site.

The club’s vision, formulated following a public consultation in March, will consolidate its first team and Academy football training operations into one facility.

As part of the project, the Reds want to develop a training campus and improve the existing community playing fields and related facilities on nearby Simonswood Lane.

LFC said that if approved, the development will give them first-class combined training operation and provide the area with upgraded football pitches, new changing rooms and car parking facilities.

The plans would also create a new pedestrian and cycle pathway, overhauled lighting and enhanced security.

Knowsley Council is expected to make a decision later this year.
