Barratt Developments Yorkshire West expands technical team with two new appointments

Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, which includes the Barratt and David Wilson Homes brands, has strengthened its technical team with a new appointment and an internal promotion. Richard Colley has been promoted from Design Manager to Technical Manager and Thomas Pardey has been appointed as Engineer.

Richard Colley returned to Barratt Developments (Yorkshire West) in 2013 having previously worked as a Technical Coordinator at the Yorkshire East Office for two years and a time in the South East. Richard has worked in the house building industry for 20 years and within construction for 30 years, bringing with him a vast amount of experience. In his new role as Technical Manager, he will drive his team of Engineers and Technical Coordinators to facilitate a start on site which includes delivering construction information and approvals.

Thomas Pardey joins the technical team as an Engineer and will be project managing engineering design for new developments from inception through to site works. Thomas previously worked as a civil engineer for five years and as a Project Manager at the Environment Agency, delivering a range of flood defence construction projects across Yorkshire and the North East.

On being promoted, Richard commented: “Barratt is a company that is always keen to develop its employees’ skills and help them grow professionally so it is brilliant to have the opportunity to develop individuals. Having worked in the construction industry for 30 years, I have extensive knowledge and experience that will help me with my new role as Technical Manager and I am excited to help other employees expand their skills as I have with Barratt.”

Thomas also commented: “I have always had a long running interest in house building, so it is great that I can now combine this with my experience as an engineer in my new role. Barratt Developments has always appealed to me because of its status as the UK’s leading, quality house builder and I am looking forward to developing and widening my skills further in this role.”

Speaking of the appointments, Dave Hudson, Technical Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, commented: “We’re thrilled to be expanding our team within the technical department. Both Richard and Thomas bring with them a vast understanding of their fields and will be very valuable members to our team as we continue to expand across Yorkshire.”
