PlayStation’s new ecommerce site built by Manchester agency
Integrated agency e3creative has delivered a new ecommerce platform for gaming brand PlayStation.
The Manchester-based firm is the creative force behind PlayStation Gear, tech giant Sony’s new website offering clothing, accessories and gifts featuring some of the biggest franchises in modern gaming, including Call of Duty, Resident Evil and Assassin’s Creed.
PlayStation Gear is now operating across three territories in Europe; England, France and Germany.
Jake Welsh, managing director of e3creative, said: “When CentreSoft and PlayStation approached e3creative to build the new website, we were absolutely delighted.
“Our agency has a continued focus and commitment to great user experience in the products we make, so to work with brands who are aligned with the same thinking and vision, is always refreshing.”
He continued: “The PlayStation Gear platform has utilised all areas of expertise within the agency, from strategists, analysts, UX designers, digital artists through to coders and security teams. It’s been a triumphant effort from all of the teams involved.
“With the platform only just launched across three territories, there are already encouraging results and engagement levels from gamers across the world, so we look forward to growing the platform into further territories globally, and providing access to gamers worldwide.”
Simon Fairhurst, e3creative’s head of design and UX, said the PlayStation Gear project proved an “exciting journey” for the whole team, coming with “its own set of challenges”.
He explained: “Myself and the team had to work hard to ensure the platform was visually impressive while on brand with PlayStation’s brand guidelines.
“We wanted to make sure the PlayStation Gear platform had its differences compared to the PlayStation website, which is why we made subtle changes to some areas of the site, such as the colour of the site’s navigation.”
Simon continued: “An aspect of the site which stands out to me is the product listing page; for this particular section, we focused heavily on UI and UX, including filter options to enable users the chance to completely customise and create their own customer journey.”
