Young Manchester entrepreneur to smash Indiegogo funding target for ethical bamboo socks

The young Manchester entrepreneur behind social startup Stand4 Socks has smashed his five-figure crowdfunding target.

Josh Turner, who sought to raise £10k for a new range made from bamboo, has already passed the £16k mark on funding platform Indiegogo with two weeks still left to go in his campaign.

Stand4 Socks sells socks with a cause, from one pair planting 10 trees to vaccinating three children against measles.

The company said its bamboo range is naturally antibacterial, breathable, absorbent and ‘ethically made’, with bamboo being 100% biodegradable and requiring little water and land for high yields.

Further, each sock is embroidered with the logo of a particular cause on the ankle.

Josh, who founded the company in 2015, said: “I have always loved colourful, eccentric socks, but also I am conscious of the issues some people face in the world today, therefore my startup was always going to build a social purpose at its core from day one.”
