Fairway Foodservice members increase collective turnover to £650.5m
Fairway Foodservice’s members have increased their collective turnover, generating £650.5m for the year-end 2016.
The Huddersfield-based buying group’s members, who access a number of cost-cutting benefits through membership with Fairway Foodservice, increased their turnover from £626m for 2016.
Fairway Foodservice is made up of 19 independent wholesalers from across the UK, Ireland and Spain. It recently concluded a record-breaking £900,000 worth of deals at its bi-annual Meet the Member event, with the buying group enjoying a strong start over the first six months of 2017.
Fairway Foodservice’s chief executive Chris Binge said: “The increase to £650.5m collective turnover is a fantastic achievement for our members, and I’m thrilled for them.
“They are being rewarded for their hard work and focus on improving and maintaining high levels of service. We have experienced growth on the group’s collective turnover for several years and there are no signs that trend will reverse.
“It’s been a particularly challenging 12 months for our members, notably with driver recruitment and implementing in-house driver training schemes, as well as diesel fuel cost increases and food commodity price increases. However, it’s testament to our members’ dedication and expertise in the foodservice industry that it has not slowed overall growth.
“Our record-breaking £900,000 worth of deals at our Meet the Member event is an indication that 2017 is set to be another solid year for our members. And we will continue to support them with their growth plans as normal.
“Our members work really hard to deliver a great service to customers and our ‘umbrella’ of buying, marketing and technical services helps their businesses grow profitably.
“We tailor our support to their respective needs and requirements, taking into account factors including regionality. It also reflects very well on our suppliers who work with us and share in our continuing growth, and I genuinely thank them for all the support they give to our members and us.”
