Landscape consultancy behind Eden Project opens two North West offices
Landscape design and planning consultancy LUC has expanded into the North West.
The firm, whose previous work includes the Eden Project in Cornwall, opened offices in Manchester and Lancaster as part of its national expansion strategy.
To cement its foothold in the region, LUC has also announced a raft of appointments.
Director of landscape architecture Tom Jonson will lead the Manchester base. Tom has over 20 years’ experience in landscape architecture and urban design. Most recently, he worked for engineering consultancy AECOM.
Supporting Tom will be principal landscape architect Jacqueline Whitworth-Allan and consultant landscape architect Chris Cox.
LUC’s other office in the region, located in the Lancaster Environment Centre at Lancaster University, will be headed up by Jon Abbatt.
Joining LUC as director of strategic development, Jon previously worked as head of environment with environmental consultancy ADAS UK.
Jeremy Owen, the managing director of LUC, said: “These are exciting times for LUC and we are thrilled to have on board highly talented new staff with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the North of England.
“LUC has worked on many fantastic projects in this region and our investment in these new offices is a testament to our commitment and belief in the north of England as a part of the country with tremendous growth potential.”
He added: “We are confident that we can make a significant contribution to help its future growth be both sustainable and successful.”
Commenting on his appointment, Tom said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to join a talented well-established practice with an exciting vision for the future and as a result I am looking forward to helping further expand this vision in the north of England for the benefit of our clients and local communities.”
In addition to its new North West sites, LUC operates across offices in London, Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
