Developer Forshaw unveils plans for £35m Salford riverside scheme
Plans for a new multi-million pound residential property on the banks of the River Irwell have been revealed.
The £35m proposals from Bolton-based developer Forshaw Land and Property Group could see 183 apartments created in Salford across a scheme ranging from 11 to 27 storeys.
Located on Derwent Street in Ordsall, the development includes a cinema, fitness suite, cycle parking and retail kiosk for residents.
National planning and development consultancy Lichfields submitted the plans to Salford City Council on behalf of Forshaw.
According to Lichfields the project would support more than 230 jobs during its 18-month build phase, with residents of the property estimated to spend around £2.3m annually in the area.
The scheme comprises a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and includes enhancements to an existing area of open space connecting the building to the nearby riverside walk.

Nathan Matta, associate director at Lichfields’ Manchester office, said: “This is an underused brownfield site located in a highly sustainable urban area.
“The proposals fit in with the goal of transforming the Ordsall Riverside Corridor, and this gateway location means the development can become a landmark building on the Salford side of the River Irwell.”
DLA Design is the architecture practice behind the scheme.
Subject to planning approval, construction work will begin in 2018.
