London gaming startup invests in digital architecture to help it turn everyone into a game designer
A London-based startup that has developed browser-based games development software has completed a major expansion of its digital architecture to help support it future growth.
Wandsworth’s Construct has partnered with Rackspace to host its new Construct 3 development tool through its managed cloud service, underpinned by Microsoft Azure to help build and maintain the site’s cloud deployment.
The new website and digital infrastructure has been designed with an increased bandwidth in traffic in mind, with demand hitting as high as three page views per second in recent months and serving upwards of 300gbs of bandwidth per day.
Further demand is expected to be driven by the launch of the latest version of its browser-based Construct development tool, which the startup claims is simple enough for those with no coding knowledge to use and deep enough for designers to create their own complex games.
Construct Director and Co-Founder Tom Gullen commented: “Naturally the website has gone through a complete redesign. In the first hours of launching Construct 3, we had 10,000 users in the first 24 hours.
“During development, the Rackspace team proved themselves invaluable, exceptionally talented, and always available to help when something goes wrong. Server administration expertise is something we’re lacking in the company. We view Rackspace as an additional employee.”
The launch of Construct 3 caps off three years of work for the startup which banked early on the latest web technology, including HTML5, to ensure its cloud-based software remained ahead of the game.
Prioritising ease of use, the software requires no installation and allows users to get creating a game in minutes with the option to publish to major platforms such as Steam, iOS, Android, Xbox and others.
Gullen added: “We started working on Construct 3 over three years ago. We believed it was highly important for our business to have a product that works and runs on the latest web technology, such as HTML 5. We are at the bleeding-edge of technology, built now and for the future.”
