Castle Fine Art to open new retail gallery near Liverpool's Bluecoat

Art gallery group Castle Fine Art has unveiled plans for its first Liverpool store.

The company is opening a gallery on Church Alley, opposite the Bluecoat in the heart of the city centre.

Comprising 2,636 sq ft of retail space, the site chosen underwent two months of renovation work and features a bespoke lighting system and viewing room.

Art on display will include work by Bob Dylan, Ronnie Wood, Raphael Mazzucco and others.

The Church Alley gallery will join a UK-wide portfolio of 34 sites as Castle Fine Art continues its rapid expansion.

Ian Weatherby-Blythe, group MD of Castle Fine Art and fine art publisher Washington Green, said: “With its rich and diverse culture, we couldn’t think of a better investment than to open our newest gallery in Liverpool.

“The gallery’s unique design and the exciting programme of exhibitions and events that will be taking place year round are set to redefine the way the city’s people experience, view and buy art, and we can’t wait to welcome our first visitors.”

Gordon Farmer, who is returning to his home city of Liverpool following a stint at Castle Fine Art in York, will manage the gallery.

Gordon commented: “The impressive design and layout of the new gallery will make for a fantastic experience for visitors and staff alike, and the location in the centre of the city’s cultural scene is ideal to house the work of some of the best artists in the industry.”

Castle Fine Art’s Liverpool gallery will open on July 1.
