£12m dementia care village launches in Didsbury
A new multi-million pound dementia care village for the Jewish community has opened in Didsbury, South Manchester.
The £12m scheme, created by care provider Belong in partnership with the Morris Feinmann Homes Trust, comprises six households, each catering for 12 people in en-suite facilities that open onto a private lounge, dining area and kosher kitchen.
Called Belong Morris Feinmann, the development was built with the support of an £8.5m loan provided by the Royal Bank of Scotland.
The care village also includes 13 one- and two-bedroom independent living apartments for rent or purchase, along with a hub of facilities that includes a kosher bistro, exercise studio, library and synagogue.
Belong Morris Feinmann general manager Deborah Baker said: “We are very excited to have Belong Morris Feinmann up and running and to welcome our first residents to the village.
“It really is a state-of-the-art facility and we are sure that the new development will be popular in the Jewish community, not only in terms of care facilities and accommodation but also as the venue for a wide range of activities in the village centre.”
The new Belong village was built on the site of the former Morris Feinmann care home.
RBS relationship director Kenny Nelson commented: “Belong continue to expand their services of providing high quality care across the North West.
“This latest care village in Didsbury replicates the same high standard for which Belong is known, helping to meet local demand in the area.”
He added: “We are delighted to give our financial support to Belong’s highly experienced team and wish them all the very best as they welcome their new residents.”
