UK heatwave drives 'highest ever' month of sales at Polar Krush
When most of us were likely bemoaning June’s stifling humidity and spiralling temperatures as we nursed our sunburns, one North East purveyor of crushed iced drinks was celebrating what turned out to be their most successful month ever.
Ashington-based Polar Krush, famous for its brightly coloured slushies at theme parks and visitor attractions across the UK, enjoyed a sales surge as the mercury rose, with its best-ever month for sales capping impressive growth in the last 18 months.
The North East brand revealed that it has doubled UK sales in the last 18 months with sales continuing to grow by over 60% a year, fuelled by both domestic and international orders from Europe and the Middle East.
Polar Krush claims to be the only major iced-based drinks brand to use natural colouring and flavourings along with its sugar free offerings, factors which have helped to drive sales growth and trigger expansion at the firm.
Commenting on the bumper sales figures in June, Michael Reid, sales director at Polar Krush said: “As we’re the only major manufacturer worldwide to use natural colours and flavours, we offer a fun, guilt-free and refreshing experience perfect for keeping cool in the sunshine.
“The hot weather has given us another great boost and we are very excited for a busy summer. Record number of stockists have realised the increased sales achieved through stocking the Polar Krush brand and this has sent demand soaring higher than ever.”
The drinks manufacturer is currently carrying out a refit at its Ashington factory, which it says will shorten product creation down from one day to just one hour and create new job opportunities in the region.
