York Minster and Azendi Collaborate on Jewellery Collection

The Heart of Yorkshire, which dominates York Minster’s Great West Window, has inspired a new sterling silver jewellery collection by Yorkshire-based brand Azendi.

The award-winning jewellery brand has worked with the cathedral to launch the exclusive collection based on the famous stained-glass window in the cathedral’s Nave. The window was built between 1338 and 1339 has been nicknamed the Heart of Yorkshire due to its distinctive flowing stone tracery.

Designers at Azendi, a specialist in sterling silver design, took inspiration from the Gothic architecture to develop the new range, which is now available in the York Minster shop as well as Azendi’s own store on Low Petergate, which is owned by the Chapter of York. Lynsey Cooke, Chief Executive at Azendi, said: “As a resident of York myself, I love walking past the Minster and admiring the beauty of the building. It was natural for Azendi to draw inspiration from the stonework and create a jewellery design around it.

“It is exciting that we have been able to collaborate with the Minster and they are supporting us as a local business by stocking the collection in their shop. The timeless design makes a wonderful keepsake of the historically beautiful city.”

Graeme Ward, York Minster Retail Manager, added: “This is going to be a fantastic addition to our jewellery collection, and we are delighted to be working in partnership with Azendi on this”.
