Pochin’s lands £6m contract to build 57,000 sq ft DPD depot

North West construction company Pochin’s Ltd has secured a £6m contract to build a new distribution site in Greater Manchester.

The firm was chosen by industrial developer Chancerygate to deliver a 57,000 sq ft depot in Middleton for parcel business DPD.

Pochin’s will start work this month on the construction of a two-storey warehouse featuring storage space, offices, a staff welfare area and a 71,000 sq ft car park.

Jim Nicholson, chief executive of Pochin’s, said: “Chancerygate share our long history of developing bespoke industrial sites to serve the UK’s logistics network.

“We will be working closely with the team to deliver a highly modernised facility capable of meeting the exceptional demands of today’s distribution industry.”

TALA, Ian C King Associates, Cudd Bentley and Bradbook Consulting are consultants on the project.

Chancerygate development director Mike Walker commented: “The new site will be a huge boon for the local economy, with over 350 jobs to be created as the centre progresses over the coming years.

“Given Pochin’s long-standing reputation in the region, particularly on industrial projects of this scale, this partnership was the obvious choice for us in ensuring a high quality delivery.”

The DPD depot is due for completion in Spring in 2018.
