Revolution Bars Group grows 9.2% as sales hit £139.4m
Leisure operator Revolution Bars Group plc has reported sales growth for its latest financial year.
The Tameside-headquartered firm, which runs 68 bars across the UK under the Revolution and Revolución de Cuba brands, saw turnover rise by 9.2% to £130.4m during the 52 weeks to July 1.
Revolution said the terror attacks carried out in Manchester and London in May and June impacted business during the days following.
This was particularly the case in the company’s North West heartland, where its bar portfolio includes five venues in Manchester city centre and five in Liverpool.
Revolution reported that business eventually picked up again, with like-for-like sales growth for the last six weeks up 2.7%.
In the year to July, the firm opened six new bars as part of its ongoing expansion strategy.
New Revolución de Cuba venues in Harrogate, Reading, Aberdeen and Glasgow that opened in the first six months of the period were followed by Revolution sites in Southend and Torquay.
Average weekly sales at all six bars are reported to be ahead of expectations.
The company plans to open a further six bars in the coming financial year. The figure includes a Revolución de Cuba venue launched in Belfast last week.
