Welsh fintech business Delio to create 20 jobs in Manchester
Welsh fintech firm Delio Ltd is expanding into Manchester with the help of a six-figure loan from the Greater Manchester Export Fund (GMEF).
The company will use the £250k GMEF funding to open an office at the XYZ building in Spinningfields this September.
Delio said its new Manchester presence will play “a key role” in expanding its client base across Europe, Australia the Middle East and Asia.
With its Manchester team already assembled, Delio plans to grow its North West headcount further with the creation of 20 jobs.
The Cardiff-headquartered company works to help financial institutions connect private asset investments with high net worth capital through interlinked white-label platforms.
Delio’s client list includes Dutch multinational banking firm ING, UK Business Angels Association and Align17 – an impact investment project in collaboration with institutions such as PwC, UBS and Hamilton Lane.
The firm also works with governments, corporate finance advisors and wealth managers.
David Newman, co-founder of Delio, said: “Currently 50% of Delio’s income comes from export sales; we only see this growing and the support available from the Export Fund will play a key role in helping achieve this.”
Gareth Lewis, the firm’s CEO, commented: “The combination of the support from the Export Fund as well as the deep fintech talent pool in Manchester and easy connectivity to our key international markets meant that Manchester was the obvious and preferred location for us to grow our internationally focused team.”
GMEF is delivered by Business Finance Solutions (BFS), Business Growth Hub and the Department for International Trade (DIT).
BFS senior loan manager Andy Nichols said: “Delio is a fantastic example of the fast-growth, ambitious business that the Export Fund was created to help.
“They have already secured an impressive client base, many of whom they are now working with to build international partnerships and opportunities.”
He added: “Their new Manchester office has already delivered high quality jobs in the region and will play a big part in confirming GM as a digital centre and a recognised hub for fintech businesses.”
In addition to its Cardiff HQ and forthcoming Manchester base, Delio has offices in London and Brussels.
