Greenlight for 61 new homes in South Ribble

A project to build 61 homes in the South Ribble area of Lancashire has been given the go-ahead.

Housing and regeneration specialist Galliford Try Partnerships will transform a derelict 4.2-acre site in Penwortham into The Maltings, a residential development for both first-time buyers and existing property owners.

Half of the houses will be a mix of three- and four-bedroom semi and detached family homes for sale under Galliford Try Partnership’s Linden Homes brand.

The remainder, a combination of two-bed apartments and houses, will be sold through the government-backed Starter Homes Initiative, which knocks a minimum of 20% off the price of an eligible property for first-time buyers aged between 23 and 40.

Galliford Try Partnerships’ acquired the land, located off Hill Road South, from the Homes and Communities Agency earlier this year.

Sian Pitt, head of Sales at Galliford Try Partnerships, said: “We’re delighted that approval has been granted for The Maltings and we look forward to continuing our work with South Ribble Council to bring the town’s first starter home development to life.

“The development’s proximity to Preston town centre, coupled with the high-quality design will make these new homes an attractive offering for both families and young professionals, as well as first time buyers who will benefit from support in getting onto the property ladder.”

Galliford Try Partnerships will aim to start on the site this Autumn 2017. The first completions are expected in Summer 2018.
