VeryPC ramps up production and headcount

Founded in 2004 Sheffield computer manufacturer VeryPC has had an incredible journey and like many businesses has experienced the trials and tribulations of the changes to both UK manufacturing and the Information Technology industry. However, recent growth indicates that brighter times are ahead.

Early in 2004 after developing its IT support offering to local businesses and supplying computer hardware, the VeryPC leadership team identified a gap in the UK market for more high quality, energy efficient PCs and servers. And whilst today the main purchasers of this product range are small businesses and consumers more inclined to buying ethically sourced computers, the business to business computer purchase trends seem to favour more competitively priced PC options supplied by larger, IT vendors that can compete more aggressively than smaller organisation like VeryPC.

VeryPC experienced challenges of reduced margins and budget constraints, so needed to create a new strategic direction for the company to grow sustainably. Over the years VeryPC has developed relationships with Intel, Microsoft and more recently SMART Technologies, allowing VeryPC to add audio visual products to its traditional IT solutions and services offering.

Contrary to popular perception manufacturing remains strong in the UK, currently the world’s ninth largest industrial nation. Manufacturing makes up 10% of GVA and 45% of UK exports, and directly employs 2.7 million people*. At the end of 2016 VeryPC employed 20 people and has since increased this figure by 50%, increasing headcount in sales, marketing, technical, production and finance personnel.

Andrew Hopton Managing Director of VeryPC comments: ’‘Increasing our staff, with the right skills and experience in key functions of the business, enables us to continue to develop customer relationships in education and business, and enables us to expand our service and solutions portfolio - ensuring each customer receives value and best advice from VeryPC.’’

One of VeryPC’s most recent recruits is software and solutions specialist, John Levis who has over 15 years’ experience working in the IT sector, for part of which he was employed by one of the UK’s largest IT Resellers. He has built up extensive knowledge in the latest cloud based technologies from Microsoft and has a strong technical background.

John Levis, Software and Solutions Specialist, comments:’‘VeryPC has a fantastic family spirit and I’m really looking forward to getting to know more customers and continuing to build long lasting relationships and spreading the word about our service and solutions offering.’’
