Developer X1 appoints contractors on £31.2m Salford scheme
North West contractor Forrest has been chosen to deliver a multi-million pound residential scheme in Salford for developer X1.
To be known as X1 The Landmark, the £31.2m development will comprise 191 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments along with two-, three- and four-bed townhouses.
The £31.2m scheme will also feature a gym, residents’ lounge, courtyard garden, concierge services and secure parking.
X1 The Landmark was designed by Liverpool firm DK Architects.
Tim Waters, senior project manager at Bolton-based Forrest, said: “Building on our successes on similar projects for X1, our appointment to this scheme further strengthens our presence in delivering high-quality city centre living.
“The scheme will act as the gateway leading into the Middlewood Locks development in Salford so it’s a key scheme for the improvement of the wider area.”
X1 regional operations director Melissa Green commented: “We are hugely excited to see this project starting on site, and to continue building on our strong relationship with Forrest.
“This will be a fantastic development with a really interesting array of apartments and townhouses and the level of finish, such as the 2.4m high windows to all apartments, will lift the bar for quality in the area.”
She added: “Demand has been great, and we have already sold most of the apartments.”

X1 The Landmark represents Forrest’s fourth contract with X1, following phases one and two of the X1 Eastbank project.
Forrest is currently onsite delivering residential schemes X1 The Plaza and X1 The Gateway.
Andy Phillips, commercial director at property consultancy Knight Knox, which released apartments at X1 The Landmark for sale earlier this year, commented: “X1 The Landmark is a superb development in an enviable location close to Manchester city centre – it is no surprise that it has already proven to be so popular!”
