Plans approved for Spinningfields’ first ever boutique hotel

Leisure operator KE Hotels and developer Henry Boot Developments (HBD) are moving forward with Silk Works – a 145-bed hotel on Atkinson Street and Scott Place.
The venue will comprise 58,800 sq ft across nine storeys, with a new building to be constructed behind the site’s existing façade on Atkinson Street.
Work on the site is due enter the construction phase in the next six months.
The hotel will be operated by the Moxy by Marriott brand, which launched in 2016 with its first venue in Milan and debuted in the UK in last year with a hotel at Aberdeen International Airport.
HBD’s North West regional manager, Dean Thompson, said: “We’re pleased to be working with Khanna Enterprises to bring the Moxy brand to Manchester – the Silk Works is a beautiful heritage building, so it will be great to see it back to its best and bringing something new to the city.
“We’ve had overwhelmingly positive feedback since submitting the change of use application back in May and the team is looking forward to getting started.”
