Lake District hotel launches Poets Bar
A hotel in the Lake District has launched a new family friendly café bar.
The venue, called The Poets Bar, was created with the refurbishment of Lancrigg country house hotel in the Easdale Valley, Grasmere.
In keeping with the property’s long association with writers, poets and artists, the café bar is located in the room that once served as the library of explorer Sir John Richardson.
Richardson, who lived in Lancrigg from the 1860s, grew up with Scottish poet Robert Burns, accompanied Lt. John Franklin on the first two expeditions into the Arctic and was friends with naturalist Charles Darwin.
Simon Wright, the owner of Lancrigg, said: “I am delighted with our latest addition to Lancrigg and the Poets Bar beautifully reflects what we want to achieve here and how we want to shape the future of the hotel.
“Poet’s Bar is already becoming popular with locals and tourists alike thanks to our friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere.”
He continued: “When you couple that with the stunning views of the surrounding fells, the result is an idyllic pub venue in the heart of Grasmere and we look forward to welcoming many more guests to try it for themselves.”
