Main contractor chosen for 201-home Ancoats development Weavers Quay
GRAHAM Construction is set to deliver a 10-storey residential development in the Ancoats area of Manchester.
The building firm was appointed as the main contractor on the Weavers Quay scheme by regeneration firm Manchester Life Development Company.
Located on a vacant site at Old Mill Street, Weavers Quay will create 201 rental homes across a mix of one-, two- and three-bed apartments, in addition to a residents’ club room, parking facilities, cycle spaces and a 24-hour concierge service.
The scheme is the sixth and final development in phase one of Manchester Life, a wider plan to deliver more than 1,000 new homes in Ancoats.
Work on the first of the six schemes, Cotton Field Wharf, will be complete in October.
GRAHAM Construction regional director Gary Hughes said: “This contract demonstrates GRAHAM’s expertise in delivering high-quality large scale residential projects.
“We’ve established a strong reputation in the sector and bringing forward this second project with Manchester Life is a testament to that. Manchester’s private rental sector is thriving, and Ancoats is one of the city’s key development areas.”
How Weaver’s Quay will look
He continued: “We’re proud to play a part in creating exciting new neighbourhoods across Manchester that benefit the regional economy, retaining and attracting new residents into the city.
“We will be utilising our extended supply chain network from across the region to deliver the project to predetermined levels of cost, quality, and timescales. We look forward to breaking ground in the next few weeks with completion projected for summer 2019.”
Weavers Quay was designed by Manchester-based Buttress Architects.
