This designer just turned his business card into a scratchcard, but how?
A product designer, Shed Simove, is aiming to revolutionise the business card and transform it into a lottery style scratchcard.
His mobile telephone number is printed in the bottom left-hand corner of the card but recipients must use a coin to remove a foil coating to reveal his website and email address.
Mr Simove, who has made a video explaining the new card, believes in making your own luck. The idea sprung to mind after performing motivational speeches on creativity and sales, where he was asked about the concept of luck, and how much it can drive success.
He said: “For me, it’s dangerous to believe in ‘luck’ as a driving force responsible for success because this mindset can be used as a reason why any of us might not start something new, as in ‘I’m just not lucky, so it won’t work, so why bother starting?’
“This dangerous psychological frame is highly damaging because any outlook in life that lessens your ‘oomph’ at having a go at making your ideas come to life and tapping into your creativity, talent and judgement, is highly detrimental to your ability to succeed and be fulfilled.”
This business scratchcard is not Mr Simove’s first time in creating such an idea; the London-based speaker and product designer has created various gifts, websites and other business cards - including ones that double as his own currency.
Simove continued: “The fact is that ‘luck’ often accrues as you push harder and change tactics.
“Of course, you can’t control every single aspect of life or business, but my ethos is that the more you focus on a project, and the more you make sure that any variables that you can control give you a competitive edge, the more you keep attacking an idea from different angles, the more likely it’ll be that ‘fortunate’ things will happen to you.”
Simove has previously launched his ‘1 EGO’ banknote business card, a visually realistic banknote that displays imagery from his life, and has a serial number that doubles as his phone number.
Mr Simove also released the ‘Honest Business Card’, which features a range of reasons why the card has been given to the recipient, with checkboxes next to these options.
